Product Update v3.9.0

InstaWP v3.9.0 continues our focus on flexibility, transparency, and smoother workflows.

With a redesigned API that supports roles and permissions, full PHP 8.4 compatibility, and smarter site management options, this release is packed with improvements. It’s a short release, but packed with meaningful improvements you’ll notice right away.

What’s New?

#1 – PHP 8.4 Support

InstaWP now supports PHP 8.4, giving you access to the latest performance and security language enhancements.

With WordPress actively improving compatibility with newer PHP versions, you can confidently build and run sites on PHP 8.4 while taking advantage of its modern features.

This not only helps developers test themes and plugins but also ensures smoother migrations, faster execution, and a future-ready foundation for WordPress projects.

#2 – Redesigned API with Roles & Permissions

Our API has been upgraded to support roles and permissions, giving you much finer control when connecting InstaWP with your systems.

Developers can now define who can perform specific actions, such as creating sites, managing templates, or viewing usage, directly through the API.

#3 – Set Lifetime for Demo Sites of Templates

You now have the flexibility to define how long demo sites created from your templates will stay active. This makes it easier to manage trials, client previews, or time-limited demos without manual cleanup.

By setting an expiry (in minutes, hours, or days), you stay in full control of lifecycle management, keeping your workspace organized while ensuring demo sites don’t live longer than needed.

#4 – Tooltips in Plans Column

The Plans column now includes tooltips to indicate whether a site is marked as Permanent or Temporary. This makes it easier to quickly understand the status of each site without guessing or opening extra details.

A simple hover shows you the information in a flag icon, right where you need it. It keeps site management more transparent.

#5 – Clearer Site Expiry Times

Site expiry information in the Plans column is now displayed in minutes, hours, or days instead of a generic timestamp. This makes it far easier to track exactly how much time is left before a site expires, whether you’re managing short-lived demo sites or longer-term projects.

Clearer Site Expiry Times

With this update, you can plan extensions, upgrades, or migrations more confidently, without needing to calculate expiry from raw dates.

Improvements

Previously, Connect PDF reports had a shorter expiration window, which sometimes made it tricky to access them later. Now, these links stay valid for 7 days, giving you more time to download, review, and share them.

With the extended duration, teams and clients can revisit migration and connect reports at their convenience, without worrying about the link expiring too soon.

#2 – Manage Site Performance Improvements

On the coding side, we’ve optimized performance across the Manage Sites section.

Though not visible directly, these backend improvements mean faster page loads, smoother interactions, and more reliable handling of large site lists.

Developers and teams managing multiple environments will notice reduced lag and an overall snappier experience when working inside the dashboard.

#3 – Empty state messages for search results

An improved empty screen is added to the pages of Sites, Snapshots, Templates, and Manage in the InstaWP dashboard. If you search for anything in the search box, it’ll show an empty state message. Previously, it was not there.

#4 – Permanent is the Default Site Type for Snapshots & Templates

This update is for the v2 users specifically.

When spinning up a new site from a snapshot or template, the site is now automatically set as Permanent. This ensures your key environments remain active without needing manual adjustments, helping you focus on development rather than site lifecycle management.

#5 – Payment Method Empty State Screen

We have introduced an Add New Card modal and an empty state in the Payment Methods page for our new users who haven’t added a card yet.
