How does the plugin redirect 404 error pages?

The plugin supports permanent redirects (HTTP response status code 301) and temporary redirects (HTTP response status code 302). It will redirect 404 error pages to the homepage when you activate it by using the 301 permanent redirects.

Nice simple plugin to use a custom page for 404 with no bloat of using an extra page designer. Logs 404s as well so you can see what's missing. One of my go-to plugins now.

does not require advanced knowledge about 404 pages, just set it and go!

I would like though, for there to be an option to temporarily disable 404. For example if I'm editing the page. (I add the date of the next publication of my magazine on the 404 page as well, but have to deactivate the app for this).
