We’re on a mission to make your product demos not just amazing but downright inspiring. In the past 3 months, we aimed to improve user experience, enhance navigability, and advance security for Shared Templates.

Let’s take you through the features we are adding right away and the features we have planned.

New Features that can help you build better product demos

1. Spam Protection

Enhance demo security effortlessly with our new spam verification feature!

InstaWP will automatically verify the email submissions via a third-party service (quickemailverification) to ensure that only valid users/email land in your email list.

Go to your Shared Template > Template Setup > Email Collection page and enable Email Spam Verification to start leveraging this feature.

2. Reply-To Email

With the ability to configure reply-to email addresses in automated demo confirmation emails, developers can foster direct communication with their audience. So, we thought, why not set up a next-level engagement machine for you, and here we are!

You were always able to customize and send an email to your demo users using the Customize email option on the Branding page.

Now, when you are collecting emails, you can also add a Reply-To Email so that their responses can be collected. This option is added to the Email Collection page:

3. Skip Form if URL query parameters are set

Do you have a way to collect your prospects’ email addresses before they click on that ‘Try Demo’ button? If so, it is suggested that you pass that email address as a URL query parameter instead of loading a form in front of them.

Go to Email Collection and enable the option Skip form if query parameters are set. You can also send “name” as the URL parameter.

Done? This is how your demo will load.

4. Webhook request type

We’ve expanded our webhook capabilities with the addition of JSON requests. This implies – Developers can now effortlessly integrate and communicate with external systems using JSON payloads. InstaWP team hopes it will enhance flexibility and efficiency in data exchange for our users.

5. Set WP Admin Email

By default, the demo user’s email address is the admin email address for his WordPress instance. However, at times, you might want to give your demo users the guest access. Do it by selecting the option Owner’s email for Collect Email > Set WP Admin Email.

6. Randomize WP Admin password

You can enable creating random WordPress Admin passwords for demo site instances. This means each WordPress site, spawned from your Shared Template, will have a different password (and not the same as the password from the parent site).

7. Redirect Non-whitelisted Users

We added a bunch of advanced security options. This option will allow you to add a whitelist IP address, Cookie, and User Agent. If we don’t detect the whitelisted parameters, then we redirect the users to a known Redirect URL (like wp-login.php).

You can enter multiple values, separated by commas, in the IP Address, Cookie, or User Agent fields.

Roadmap

1. Better UX for editing

Our UX designers are working hard to simplify and refine the demo creation process to WordPress plugin and theme developers. So, you can expect a better and more powerful Shared Template Editor rolling out very soon.

What to expect? Well, here is a quick list – streamlined workflows, improved navigation, and implemented intuitive design elements to make the editing process more efficient and user-friendly 🙂

2. Classes Templates

We will name every section of a shared template, front-end preview, with CSS classes. This will allow you to customize the look and feel of your template landing page without any guesswork. We already have the “custom CSS” section, but with classes in place, you will be more equipped with customizing the look & feel.

3. Setting Custom Username / Email

We are planning to enable developers to set custom usernames and email addresses for demo users. This feature will enhance personalization and allow you to craft well-customized demos.

Thank you for being a valued part of the InstaWP community. We would love to continue improving your product demo creation experience so that you can serve your prospects right!
