Another Freemium useless pile, brought to you by Tyche

By Endlyss (Akel-Res) on August 29, 2024

I get it that plugin developers need to make some bread, too, but as I've said for the past decade, repeatedly, I (and everyone, judging by other reviews) are getting really tired of the bait and switch of "this plugin is practically useless, unless you buy it...we only put the plugin here for free marketing." If you need to make bread, post it on Codecanyon...or if you have a WORKING free plugin with an upgrade to pro, then put it here. But so effin' tired of the people who just blatantly post non-working plugins with the expectation that people will just buy it to get the working version.

This plugin does absolutely nothing useful on the free version, and actually made matters worse for such a simple piece of functionality -- all because I didn't pay...even though they say in the feature list of the free version that it does this specific thing.

I have ONE variation of a product for a client that needs to say "call for pricing."

All other variations, and all other products are open for purchase.

What did I want with this plugin? I set the price to $0 for it to show the "Call for pricing" prompt (that it says it supports in its FREE version documentation). Because every other variation has a price, and is purchaseable

What did it do instead of what was described in the feature list? Well, it took my "Zero price" and replaced the text just fine.............just like it did for every other variation when viewing the product on the main shop loop.

Turns out that their free version sets a global setting to set all products to "Call for pricing."

That's okay though, because they supposedly have a workaround -- just set the individual variation price to "0" and it'll replace the text for ya.

And then, just like the energizer bunny it keeps goin and goin, and it overkills that measure by replacing the text on the shop loop, too. If you have any single variation within your product set to zero, it overwrites the ENTIRE product on the shop loop page, telling users to "call for pricing" for all variations, even if there are other variations that are purchasable without calling.

So thank you, once again, WordPress repo, for allowing yet another developer to post a not-even-functioning-as-advertised plugin, with the bait and switch of "you gotta buy the premium version for that."

Scarsa funzionalità

By centroforniture on March 7, 2022

works great

By twies on August 25, 2021

Was working fine until I updated to wp 5.8 Categories stopped working for some products and my 'product search' that I have activating in function.php stopped working for variable products. I guess I need to learn to wait with my updates my bad had an issue with another plugin.

If you wont pay it is practically useless.

You need the pro version even if you need to translate the button text. Useless!!!

Useless if other language

By piajensen13 on December 21, 2020

The plugin is completely useless unless you have an English language site. For everybody else on the planet you have to pay to change the text. Would have been nice if this had been mentioned on the plugin page.

WooCommerce 4.3

Says not tested to this version of WooCommerce. But I tested it and it works. If it does not work, it might be your theme.

Excellent support !

Thank you for your precious help ! Please consider making dynamic strings translatable with WPML in the Pro version, it would be perfect :-)

Excellent Plugin, First Class Support

By cwaite on September 27, 2018

Purchased the Pro version as it had the features I required. Support was first Class and very fast. Because of another plug-in I was also using (Price By User Role) it wasn't quite functioning as I wanted. However Tom wrote some code for my functions.php file and it now all works with the Price By User Role installed. Excellent work !!

Great plugin and superb support!

Excellent Plugin With Great Support

By petermjames on June 20, 2018

I've just started using this plugin and soon upgraded to the premium version. It does everything we want and is very easy to use. Tom has been great with prompt support and very reactive to new feature suggestions.
