About Byborg Enterprises SA

The Challenge

Byborg Enterprises serves people from various walks of life who seek to interact with models.

To meet the needs of this vast and diverse audience, they have to build and release many impressionable promotional campaigns and sites regularly. These promotional sites and campaigns must be executed and delivered on time to keep the audience engaged and satisfied across all platforms.

Many hosting infrastructures tend to impose strict restrictions on their content due to its sensitive data, regardless of its high demand. Microsoft, however, does not. So Byborg Enterprises built its entire infrastructure on Azure, Microsoft’s cloud services.

The web development team had two methods for developing promotional sites before pushing them to live production.

Method 1: Using Docker

They used Docker for site-local development. Then, they had to migrate each site to production for designers to review. This method proved inefficient and time-consuming, especially when fixing bugs.

Method 2: Using a Separate Staging Environment

This method involved building the sites on a secondary development server before migrating to production. This method saved time when fixing bugs and issues. However, it was still time-consuming, requiring approximately 20 minutes per site to set up a new virtual machine, install software, and transfer files for both production and development environments.

“We release 3-4 new promotional sites weekly, and with our previous methods, setting up both production and development environments took about an hour on average, assuming everything went smoothly, which was only sometimes the case due to occasional issues with Azure.”

– Kypros Vassiliou (Senior WordPress developer, Byborg Enterprises)

Byborg Enterprises’ primary challenge was the significant time wasted creating WordPress staging environments with either method. It also took a lot of work to keep up with the quota of releasing 3-4 new promotional sites weekly.

On a good day, setting up both production and development environments took an hour on average, assuming everything went without hiccups. But it took painstakingly longer when things went south, which was occasionally due to consistent issues with Azure.

How Byborg Enterprises found InstaWP?

Byborg discovered InstaWP directly from Vikas in the Europe 2023 Wordcamp held in Athens. Before discovering InstaWP, the company was solely dependent on and dedicated to its in-house solutions and never considered seeking alternate solutions outside.

When they eventually discovered InstaWP,  they did not consider any competitors before using the staging environment because they found the free version well-suited to their needs.

Specific Use Cases Byborg relies on InstaWP for

According to Kypros Vassiliou, their senior WordPress developer, the InstaWP feature that Byborg finds the most valuable for their process is the instant site creation.

In a nutshell, Byborg found InstaWP a game-changer in terms of:

Creating Staging Sites

Since Byborg had to make 3-4 new promotional sites weekly, InstaWP’s staging environment and remote collaboration capabilities were instrumental in achieving this quota without the time-consuming constraints of setting up sites locally with Docker. With InstaWP, Byborg could swiftly and efficiently spin new WordPress staging sites for development and have them ready for migration in record time.

Creating Test Sites Quickly

InstaWP’s one-click instant site creation solved the problem of setting up WordPress test sites quickly for troubleshooting and fixing bugs, ensuring they release sites with seamless user experience, foolproof security, and impeccable privacy protection.

“InstaWP dramatically improved our process by cutting setup time in half, saving us at least 25-30 business days of work annually since we started using it. Thanks to InstaWP, we experienced a 17% increase in productivity over the past year.”

How InstaWP Benefits Byborg?

In the one year since adopting InstaWP in their site development process, Byborg has achieved a 17% increase in productivity. InstaWP improved their process by reducing setup time in half, leading to a noticeable increase in efficiency and productivity while saving them about 25-30 business days of work annually.

“With InstaWP, we have substantially reduced setup times, leading to a noticeable increase in efficiency and productivity. The streamlined process has saved us considerable time and effort, positively impacting our business operations.

– Kypros Vassiliou (Byborg Enterprises)

Byborg has not experienced any challenges while using InstaWP. The platform has consistently met their needs and expectations, providing a seamless and efficient solution for their development and staging environments.

InstaWP has evolved significantly over the past year. While we primarily used it for staging, its full range of features can save considerable time and reduce costs. For businesses that utilize its complete functionality, InstaWP is an invaluable tool. It is especially beneficial for digital agencies, streamlining workflows and enhancing productivity.

Conclusion

Byborg Enterprises’ challenge with local environments and switch to InstaWP emphasizes the pivotal role of remote staging environment in the WordPress space, irrespective of niche and industry.
