Huge problems, no thanks!

By synthezoid on January 3, 2025

1.) This editor copied PHP from one plugin to another without me knowing. Totally overwrote the code of one of my plugin files without me knowing! All of a sudden my plugin menu started registering two plugins with the same name, and I looked, and one, the contents of the main file had been copied over from a totally different plugin!

2.) This cost me almost 8 hours of troubleshooting because it defaults to silently removing version numbers from theme CSS files, which I use in my theme. Made it impossible to update the css on my site without manually clearing my browser cache every single time. I lost a whole night on this!

3.) Not that big a deal, but nice idea to have a themeable editor but not if you can't preview the themes and have to keep tediously flipping between tabs to see what they look like. Also not if mosty of them are pretty ugly.

Hardly broke the website (UPD: NOT REPRODUCED)

I was editing functions.php file in child theme with this plugin. And the plugin overwrote also style.css file with contents of functions.php. I would have noticed that I was editing the wrong file, because style.css weights about 700 kb and it should have taken time even to load this css into the plugin editor (not mentioning the different contents of the file).

Another time I was editing functions.php and this plugin saved only the small part of this file (only my changes).

Thanks God, there was a backup archive with style.css file so the problem was fixed. I had original functions.php file so there was no problem with that.

WP version: 5.3.18, PHP version: 7.2.34

Very good

Not for the user...

By milo212 on April 15, 2024

I have been a WordPress user for 20 years and choose WordPress for any site I create because it is the best tool for people who don't want to be locked into a single web host. Like a "best looking guy in the burns unit" - this is not a compliment at all.

Just try to edit the font size of your Header and you'll see whta I mean: this "tool" is horrible. It is a mystery how can anyone stay in business like this - not trying to give their customers an easy way to get things done. Who created this monster and how do they sleep at night? I am assuning they got money for their work - shouldn't they feel ashamed for how bad it is?

Tons of other reasons to rate this poorly - even before Automatic started pushing people to subscription (JetPack) - this is one sad and very confusing app.

I like it, it´s helpful
