About Clone

WP Clone is a backup and migration plugin for WordPress that allows you to easily backup, migrate or clone your website to another domain or hosting server. It does not require FTP access, only creates user content and database backups, and fetches the backup via your host's direct http connection, making it faster and more secure. However, there is a small chance that backups or migrations may fail, so it's recommended to use it as a secondary backup solution and test it before relying on it completely.

Frequently asked questions

What is WP Clone?
WP Clone is a WordPress plugin designed to backup, migrate, or clone a WordPress site to another domain or hosting server. It can also be used for development, testing, and installing pre-configured backups.
How does WP Clone differ from other backup and migration plugins?
WP Clone does not require FTP access for backup files, simplifying the migration process. It only backs up user content and database, reducing upload time and improving security. The plugin fetches site backups via direct HTTP connection, eliminating the need to upload large backup files.
What are the limitations of WP Clone?
In 90% of cases, backups and migrations work flawlessly. For 9% of cases, failures may occur due to hoster configurations, especially with very large sites. A workaround for large sites is to perform a "Database Only" backup, transfer the wp-content directory via FTP, and then restore the new site.
