I installed the plugin and when trying to create my first popup I got the following error: “We could not load the editor because the defined template is no longer available.”
I can't create any popups. Very disappointing, I really wanted to try this.
I was looking for something lightweight, simple, and, with an intuitive real-time interface for my client. This met the requirements.
Here are some sugestions for improvement, though.
- Adding a template with a picture and button. Now, the only templates with pictures are the ones with sign-up forms.
- Adding an option to set a lifetime of a cookie when the modal window is closed, including a session cookie for example.
- Adding an option to open a link assigned to a button in a new window.
- Don't load styles when no window is active. It can be simply done by checking whether any post of hollerbox type is published.
I was hoping that this plugin was good... Luckily I only installed it on my staging page. That page got permanently spammed by a message that says "Attention: It looks like MailHawk is installed but is not connected to the MailHawk service." I don't have Mail Hawk and I don't want it. But this message appears on top of all my sites in the admin area now, even after deleting the holler box plugin. Thankfully I can just renew my staging page and the spamming is over. But that's real shady business!

No. The software was riddled with bugs and modal popups that would display when the code threw an error. Really amateurish. I got a refund.
Popup won't hide even if the user clicks the "X" button. I have it set to hide if the user hides it. I absolutely HATE popups that won't go away. And this one also doesn't stop showing if I refresh, despite that the setting is not to activate until after 5 days.
Lightweight, simple to use, perfect plugin!

Exactly what I was looking for, and more. Even allows me to set a time before it pops up, and the cookies actually work correctly! Once a user dismisses the pop-up, or signs-up using it, the pop-up goes away. Nothing I hate more in website design than annoying pop-ups, except for annoying pop-ups that are hard to get rid of! This one is small and can be set to come in like a chat box - which is perfect. And it's even easily customizable (which is hard to find in pop-up plugins, especially when you have a dark theme website).
Lots of potential with what this plugin can be used for.
