Senior WordPress Plugin Developer
- Remote (Indian timezone overlap preferred)

Why this role matters: InstaWP Connect powers one-click staging, migration, 2-way sync and remote site management for thousands of WordPress sites. We need an engineer who lives and breathes WordPress internals to own the plugin’s roadmap, keep it blazing-fast, and ship the next wave of features our users crave — while coordinating with our Laravel-based cloud API.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead architecture, coding, and reviews for the InstaWP Connect plugin
- Design and ship new capabilities (e.g. smarter 2-way sync, deeper remote management, headless CLI) that leverage InstaWP’s API and staging platformsk.wordpress.org
- Ensure compatibility from WP 6.x → latest, multisite, WooCommerce, and PHP 8.x
- Profile and squash performance bottlenecks in large, high-traffic installs
- Harden security: least-privilege API auth, nonce/CSRF, sanitisation, secure file ops
- Write automated unit / integration tests (PHPUnit, WP-CLI) and maintain CI pipelines
- Collaborate with the Laravel backend team on REST endpoints, webhooks and queues
Must-have skills:
- 5+ years professional WordPress plugin development; deep understanding of WP core lifecycle, hooks, options, Cron, transients, WP-CLI
- Expert PHP OOP, Composer autoloading, namespacing, traits, design patterns
- Advanced SQL (MySQL/MariaDB) and experience optimising heavy queries
- Git-based workflow, code reviews, semantic versioning, release automation
- Good grasp of security (OWASP, nonce workflows, privilege escalation vectors)
Nice to have:
- Laravel 10+, Eloquent, Queues, Horizon
- Bash / Python scripting for release tooling
- Contributions to WP core, major plugins, or public GitHub packages
